Helen Marchant

I have always had an interest in sewing and after a City and Guilds Soft Furnishing and Upholstery Part 1 and  2 in 1990-93,  discovered Patchwork and Quilting with a local group.
I soon decided I wanted to do more and enrolled to do a City & Guilds Part 1 & 2 at Cambridge in 2003-2006.

This changed my life in textiles.
I love the way in has developed with the internet and exhibitions making it easy to connect with anyone worldwide.

I was brought up in Australia and having frequent trips back, I love to include the diverse colours and landscape in my work when I can.

I now enjoy creating pieces for family and friends and particularly encouraging my young grandchildren to enjoy the textile media.

I am a founder member of Out Of The Fold and enjoy the challenge and stimulation exhibiting with the group at various venues and exhibitions.

I particularly like working with natural fabrics. printing, dying, and building up the design with quilting, machine stitching, and hand sewing.
