Another chance to see our 'Monochrome' collection

Out of the Fold unveiled their series 'Monochrome' at an exhibition at Snape Maltings in Autumn 2022.

There will be another opportunity to see the Monochrome work, minus some which sold, and some additional pieces by our new members Frances Overy and Phillip Rees. 

'Monochrome' was defined as either work in black and white or in shades, tones and tints of one colour e.g. blue

The result was a varied range of work from all members of the group to include hangings, installations, costume and 3D work.

'Unfolding' the fan collection

As part of the 'Unfolding' exhibition there will be a display of fans made by each member of Out of the Fold.

To inspire us we had an visit to the fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk earlier in the year and were privileged to have a private handling session with some of the fans from the collection.

There have been considerable technical challenges in the making of the fans with every member finding their own way of producing a textile, paper or mixed media fan.

Come along to see the results at our exhibition at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1PR from Tuesday 3rd until Sun 8th October 2023

Two reasons to visit the Guildhall

 

On Sat 7th and Sun 8th October 2023 there is an added reason to visit burystedmundsguildhall. In addition to the Out of the Fold 'Unfolding' exhibition across the corridor in the Courtroom there will be the Foreword Festival taking place. Authors signing and selling books, writers workshops in the Tudor Kitchen and a pop up coffee shop in the court yard. There might even be some actors showing off in the garden!

In the Ball room you will find lots of beautiful textile and mixed media art and members of Out of the Fold who will answer questions - but only if asked.

'Unfolding' exhibition

'Unfolding' is the title of the Out of the Fold exhibition for 2023 and each of our eleven members has interpreted this in their own way.

Here is just a snapshot of some of the things to expect when visiting the show.

There will be wall hangings, 3D work, installations, framed pieces and costume all inspired by the 'Unfolding' theme.
