Mary McIntosh

Mary McIntosh joined Out of the Fold in 2011. Mary is a textile artist and principal tutor for Creative Stitch. 

Mary says " I get very excited by texture and colour and exploring ways of creating fabrics using multiple processes and then bringing these alive with stitch"  

 
'Picking up the threads' inspired by the process of weaving velvet. 
This won a highly commended at the 
Festival of Quilts 2020

Recycled calico, stitched, overdyed and discharged. Fringing stitch. The piece of 4 metres long 
and forms one long continuous loop. 
'Fragmentation' made for the CQ Challenge 2020

This piece is touring the UK as part of the CQ exhibition

Dyed, printed an overdyed fabrics. Cut and reconstructed.

Calico, stitched, painted, dyed and discharged. 
Cut and threaded through with dyed fabrics.
Now sold
'Copper Bleach' made for Festival of Quilts 2017.

Black linen discharged and bleached. Applique with sheers, lame and glitter film. machine quilted.
Now sold.
