Rainbow Books

 During the Covid pandemic Out of the Fold continue to 'meet' regularly on zoom. As our planned exhibition was delayed we decided on a group project to design and make Rainbow inspired stitched books. One Colour, one page, one month.

Membership changes

 Founding member Lynne Pretty left Out of the Fold in early 2021 but did exhibit as part of the exhibition in The Guildhall. 

Following the exhibition long term member Carole Ward decided not to continue as a member. 

We will miss both Lynne and Carol; for their talent, friendship and support given freely for many years.

 The long awaited exhibition 'Drawing Threads' took place at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds in Sept 2021. Thank you to all our visitors. We plan to return to the Guildhall in 2023.

Creating Links by Heather Black

 Heather has been taking part in a joint project between the WI and Chelsea College of Art.

Students and WI members worked on a number of the themed campaigns championed by the Women's Institute to bring about social and political change. Heather elected to work on the theme of  combatting loneliness.

Heather made a series of links made from naturally dyed fabrics - weld, madder and indigo - with buttons and buttonholes so the can be linked and relinked as friendships are formed. All hand stitched.

A virtual gallery of all the work made as part of this joint project is planned. 

 

Drawing Threads Exhibition New Date Confirmed

 The Drawing Threads exhibition by Out of the Fold postponed from May 2020 will now take place at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds from Wed 22nd until Sun 26th September 2021.

All eleven members of Out of the Fold will exhibit work under the main theme of the show "Drawing Threads"

In addition we will have a display of work celebrating 1000 years of Bury St Edmunds Abbey

As lockdown meant we had longer to prepare for this exhibition we will alsos show the results of a group project stitched over the past year with progress being shared at our monthly zoom meetings.
