MAY 2020 EXHIBITION CANCELLED

The Out of the Fold exhibition planned for May 2020 has been cancelled owing to the current Covid-19 crisis.

We hope to reschedule the exhibition for Autumn 2020 or Spring 2021.

We wish all of our family, friends and fellow textile artists the best of health. Keep calm, keep well and keep stitching.

Velvet

Mary continues to explore the theme of the weaving industry in her work and this piece 'Velvet' is inspired by the way that velvet is woven and then sliced through with wires to create the pile.

This 4 metre long piece, which uses 4000 (yes thousand) metres of thread will be on show at the 'Drawn Thread' exhibition at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds from Wed 20th until Sun 24th May 2020

Enjoy the afternoon creating some beautiful buttons with ideas and instructions on how to use them.

Out of the Fold members will offer workshops as part of the forthcoming 'Drawn Threads' Exhibition at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds.

Putting on the glitz 

Mary McIntosh will offer a 'Putting on the Glitz' workshop to create a sumptuous panel on black velvet using fabric paints, sheers, transfoils and glitter film. Kit of all materials available for £10 or requirements list provided.

Bury St Edmunds Abbey 1000 years celebration

New banner

There are twelve members of Out of the Fold and co-incidentally twelve letters in our group name. So last year each member was allocated a letter and asked to create a stitched version in their own style.  Lynne Pretty put it all together and  it is now ready to be revealed to the world.

The banner can be seen as part of the forthcoming exhibition 'Drawn Thread' at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds from 20th - 24th May 2020

Drawn Thread Exhibition

Out of the Fold will exhibit a whole new body of work inspired by the theme of 'Drawn Thread' in May 2020. The exhibition will take place in the beautifully restored Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds. This is a delightful location with high ceilings, good light and a cafe on site too. burystedmundsguildhall.org.uk
