Janet makes waves for the CQ suitcase collection

Janet says "The Pop Artist Victor Varasely was my inspiration. The clean cut lines and sharp colours attracted me along with the optical illusion adding movement and depth. A real WOW for me!
'Making Waves' - Jan Valentine 2016

I used hand dyed colour graded cotton and silk; appliqued and machine stitched. Free machining patterns add detail and hand tied beaded edging to finish.

CQ Suitcase Collection

OOTF members Lynne Pretty, Janet Valentine and Mary McIntosh have all had pieces accepted for the new Contemporary Quilt suitcase collection called My Favourite Artist

The Suitcase collection is made up of A3 sized pieces on a theme which can be hired by groups

Mary's piece was inspired by the artist Gerhard Richter who produces huge pieces of art. Richer underpaints and then scrapes oil paint across the surface using an iron girder. In Mary's version she first understitched then painted with emulsion before pulling across acrylic paint using a metal ruler.
