Out of the Fold exhibited their collection of handmade fans at the Big 24 Show held at Blackthorpe Barns, Suffolk. Ten fans were on display.

The fans were made for the 'Unfolding' exhibition in 2023 and inspired by a visit to see the fan collection at the Fitzwilliam museum in Cambridge

Phillip Rees exhibited at the Big 24 Show as part of CQ Iceni who had all made small quilts inspired by triangles.

The festival runs from Saturday 13th - Sunday 21st April 2024 at the Norwich Forum

The entry by Penny Evans is inspired by frozen pingos in the forest near her home and is made using hand dyed silks, viscose fibre, gelli-plate printed paper all wet felted on merino wool. This image shows just a part of the much larger work.

Tribute to Marion Baker

'Orchard' made in 2024
Out of the Fold sadly announce the death of much beloved member Marion Baker who passed away on 4th March 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Marion's funeral took place on 5th April and she has been laid to rest in a beautiful woodland burial site near Norwich.

Over the many years Marion was a member of Out of the Fold we have enjoyed seeing her develop original, often quirky, always distinctive, work for exhibition.

'Unfolding' 2023
Tiny in stature but never in spirit Marion's personality came out in her work. Her dress style, often wearing hand knitted or crocheted pieces of her own design, was unique. Her son Jesse described her in his tribute as "Effortlessly cool"

Here are some tributes from members of Out of the Fold

"Marion had the sweetest heart and such a talent of stitch. Mixed Media was always amazing. I will miss my friend"
Karen Frost

" I loved her sense of fashion. she didn't follow, but set it. A snazzy fun dresser!"
Frances Overy

'Monochrome' vessel 2022
"Marion was warm, kind, colourful, and had a distinctive creative voice"
Lynette Domoney

"Beautiful creative inspiring lady with fabulous style"
Heather Evans

"Having known Marion for nearly twenty years, I consider it a privilege to call her a friend. She was always so kind and never had a cross word. Marion was a skilled needlewoman and always happy to share her knowledge. I have many happy memories, especially from our experiences at exhibitions and at Out of the Fold.
Marion, you will be sorely missed and I imagine you sewing away in eternity, a dog at your side, amongst the trees"
Lynne Pretty
