Amanda Hislop workshop

 We recently invited textile artist Amanda Hislop to Out Of The Fold to give us a 2 day workshop using her Layered Landscapes technique.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
Amanda had us layering up muslin with various pieces of paper and glueing onto the background with cellulose paste. This was a new technique for most of us and we were well out of our comfort zones.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                             After allowing it to dry we added colour with dyes and paint.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       More drying time and then stitch started to be added by machine.

And then hand stitching.                                                                                                                                                                              This was quite a challenging workshop and not everyone enjoyed the process or produced a piece of work they liked. But watch out for some of these samples worked up into finished pieces with lots more stitch and individual interpretation.
